So, those are my feet in the picutre above. I was in Costco over the weekend and I was lying down. But why was I taking pictures of my feet, had I gone totally insane?
Today, I want to quickly talk to you about FEAR.
For most of my life, fear has been a dominant factor holding me back from my goals, hopes and dreams and whilst I have done some pretty scary shit in my life (I mean, getting on a plane to train in Thailand on your own or even getting into the ring and fighting takes guts) I still have a lot of fear. Particularly when it comes to fear of success (Sounds weird that, doesn't it).
I know where I want to go in life. I know exactly who I want to be, what I want to have and where I want to go but I feel like I am stuck in the mud so many times. I am sure you can resonate with that. Then I realised that this was nothing more than fear that was holding me back from stepping forward. So, one night, I was frustrated and I thought, what can i do to learn to overcome my fear. This is when I found a youtube video which was a TED talk by a guy named Till who ran something called Comfort Zone Crushers. He spoke about how you can expand your comfort zone and break the neural pathways that link fear to physical reaction through practicing crazy stuff that is kinda uncomfortable. Yup, you guessed it, one of his pieces of advice was to lay down in a public place for 30 seconds. I must say, it was a really liberating experience, hence the feet in the above picture!
This got me thinking though. I thought, "There must be loads of people, like me, who are held back by fear". So, I decided I am going to learn as much as I can about getting out of my own comfort zone and learning on taking action in spite of the fear I feel (Yup, it's that old Susan Jeffers classic book, Feel the fear and do it anyway, again!)
So, here's a video I recorded in between workouts yesterday. I will make more messages on this topic and do more comfort zone crusher challenges and post them up here on this blog. If you feel like you or anyone else you know is held back by fear, then please feel free to follow me on youtube, facebook etc or even drop me a message, oh and feel free to share this with your friends too! Have an awesome day!
