The rules of the game

Have you ever played a game? Of course you have and games have rules. Rules are there to make sure that the game remains fun and fair for all players as well as providing structure but here’s a game you play everyday, it’s called life! And, life has many sub games too. For instance, the game of fitness, the game of wealth and money, the game of relationships. All of these games have their own set of rules but here’s the kicker. Unlike games like Monopoly, Scrabble etc. The rules are set by YOU!

Why am I mentioning this?

Well it’s simple really and I am going to tell you about a very clever mind trick I can perform. You see, just by looking at someone, I can tell the rules they have in their lives for things such as the rules they have for the game of presentation as well as the game of health and fitness. I Can sooner or later also tell about this person’s rules for their game of wealth and money too if I spend enough time with them.

The point is, we all have rules about various areas of our lives. These rules are the rules that are governed by your subconcious and the better the rules you hold in those areas, the better you’ll be.

For example, when it comes to health and fitness, I have a lot of rules that I abide by. Here are a few of my rules;

– I must exercise 5 to 6 days a week
– I must drink at least 2 litres of water per day
– I must choose nutritient dense foods and eat proper foods
– I must listen to my body and give it what it needs
– I must not ingest or inhale any thing detrimental to my body. These include Alcohol, narcotics and foods that are bad such as hydrogenated foods.

Now, notice that these rules are must rules and not should rules. Rules are what you feel must be done. I’ll be honest, my must rules in the world of finance are not as stringent as my health rules but that’s something for me to work on. The biggest difference for me is that I have a few too many should/shouldn’t rules in the finance areas compared to musts!

These rules act as a guidence mechanism for our subconcious (which controls which direction we head in) and if we break these rules, boy, will our subconcious let us know about it. Feeling uncomfortable, guilty, upset, anxious, I mean do you know just how antsy I get if I miss a workout or can’t get good, nutritious food?

So, I leave you with this one question, what rules do you have the games of your life? What are your fitness and health rules, your financial rules, your relationship rules, your spiritual rules? If you have any area in which you feel that you could do better in, I am certain that you’ll find that you’ve probably got too many should do’s and not enough must do’s in those areas!
